Santa Rosa CA Real Estate and General Information

Trying to find a home in “The City Designed for Living”?  I have the expertise, experience, and knowledge, and would be glad to help.

As the county seat of Sonoma County, Santa Rosa is home to about 171,990 residents.  Santa Rosa is the largest city in Californian Wine Country and the 5th-largest in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This North Bay city lies on the Santa Rosa Plain, stretching in the Valley of the Moon on the east and dipping into the Laguna de Santa Rosa catchment basin on the west.  The Santa Rosa Creek runs through the city depositing into several basins around town.  Hood Mountain can be seen standing in the east and Taylor Mountain and Sonoma Mountain are found to the southeast.  Great blue herons, black-crowned herons, great egrets and snowy egrets can be spotted along the city''s urban fringe near the tributaries.  Highways 101 and 12 cut the city into quadrants.

Three colleges can be found within city limits: Empire College, Santa Rosa Junior College and a branch of the University of San Francisco.  Within 50 miles of the city, 52 colleges, universities and trade schools can be found, including Sonoma State University, the famed University of California at Berkeley (Cal), and NCAA Division I school, Saint Mary's College of California.  Santa Rosa is served by 2 public school districts, the Santa Rosa Elementary School Districts for grades K-6 and the Santa Rosa High School District for grades 7-12.  The 2 are combined as Santa Rosa City Schools and serve a total of over 18,000 students across 27 schools alongside an independent K-12 independent study program, a K-8 charter school, several day care programs, and an adult education program.

Santa Rosa is at the southwestern gateway to the Sonoma and Napa Valleys—California''s renowned Wine Country.  Also, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge is about an hour away.  In the city itself is the Carillo Adobe built in 1837 for Dona Maria Ignacio Lopez de Carillo.  It was the first home on Santa Rosa territory and remains today.  The Sonoma County Museum is also located in Santa Rosa and connects Sonoma County''s extensive history with contemporary art and culture.  The 5,000-acre Annadel State Park provides many recreational activities, diverse wildlife, and what biologists consider to be the best example of undisturbed northern oak woodlands in existence.
